Representatives from Six Countries Decide to Found the AIIECP

April 6, 2024

As part of the international research project on interventions in co-parenting crises, “NEW GUIDELINES IN JUSTICE FOR 21ST-CENTURY FAMILIES”, a group of parenting coordinators met in Santiago, Chile, on May 14, 2023, to establish an International Association, create a global network, and continue developing spaces for reflection, research, and deepening understanding of issues directly related to Parenting Coordination.

This group of professionals shared concerns about the increase in high-conflict family relationships in their respective countries and the impact this has on children. This situation prevents courts and administrative authorities from adequately addressing the growing problem, with the risk that children may lose contact with one parent or with extended family. Another issue they identified was the increasing number of cases in which a parent takes a child to another country without returning them to the other parent. Courts and governments are seeking tools to protect these children and adolescents who are caught in co-parenting conflicts.
