International Family Day: A Call for Child Well-Being from AIIECP

May 15, 2025

The International and Ibero-American Association of Parenting Coordination Specialists (AIIECP) joins the celebration of International Family Day by reaffirming our commitment to the well-being of families in all their diversity.

The family, as a fundamental unit of society, deserves support and guidance during times of crisis and transformation. In particular, in complex scenarios of high co-parental conflict, it is essential to safeguard the best interests of children and adolescents, promoting healthy and respectful environments for their development.

Parenting coordination emerges as a key tool to reduce the harm that prolonged conflicts can cause to children, facilitating sustainable and respectful agreements between adults.

On this day, we call upon:

  • States and public authorities to develop accessible and comprehensive public policies for separations and divorces.

  • Judicial and social institutions to strengthen spaces for interdisciplinary coordination that prioritize the rights of children.

  • The community as a whole to recognize the diversity of family forms and provide a support network in the most difficult moments.

Because all families matter. Because every child deserves to grow up without being caught in adult conflicts and to live in environments free from violence.

On this May 15, AIIECP celebrates the strength and diversity of families and renews our efforts to build a more just, empathetic coexistence centered on the well-being of our children.
